Initial toile made in non-stretch calico following directions from pattern book. This was not so helpful as the final fabric was a stretch knit. Toile required major alterations in the first fitting. It required further major alterations in the second fitting to get a smooth close fit. This was also the first time I was required to fit a zip into a stretch material. Although the process of making this costume was not smooth, the end result was very effective, creating a strong 1970s feel and a garment that was indistinguishable from the authentic vintage garments onstage.
