Dress for "Paradise Lost"
2008
Central School of Speech and Drama
1930s New York summer dress.
The design for this dress was taken from a vintage catalogue which provided only the fashion illustration. The construction process was diverted several times by changes in the design concept, notably going from a winter scene to summer which meant that different weight fabric needed to be used. This fabric was a cotton blend that was hand-dyed to match the sepia qualities of the overall design scheme. The end result was effective in that it fitted the requirements of the play.
